ARCTIC ELF COSTUME- FACE MASK |
||
This is the part that most will not be able to produce, I Have a Plaster of Paris bust of my whole head. I sculpted the face using clay on top of the bust, then made a reverse mold of that. Peeled out all the clay from the neg mold then brushed in liquid latex, ta-da ...done. It's allot more work then it seems.
I will be making some of these Arctic Elf Masks to be sold to those Mask colors are; red, yellow, green, pink, white, black, orange. I did another mask mold for a lady years ago with a small face, so I can produce a woman's/kids (one or two piece) and men's sized mask (two piece only). I do simple airbushing (the nose part) on each mask for added detail (elf ears sold separately .
The Men's two piece mask (eybrows not attached) no make-up, nose painted
This type of latex mask acts like a second skin and moves with your face expressions, putting it on can be a little tricky. I can usually get three years+ of use out of one mask (using it about 5 times per year) with proper care and storage. You will need to purchase some spirit gum or prosthetic adhesive in order to attach a rubber mask like this to your face ( I sweat quick so I need the prosthetic adhesive to give me a better hold). Try your local costume stores, or Halloween/party stores. I was going to offer the adhesive but usually it's too cold to send it through the mail (in Nov-Dec) and if it freezes it won't dry properly. Send me an e-mail if you can not find either the spirit gum or prosthetic adhesive, I will try and hunt down a supplier in your area.
If you want to know how to make this face yourself I have http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=eB2QHIVaahw&feature=related

Where/How to glue the bottom part of the mask to your face.
HOW-TO-APPLY A TWO PIECE LATEX MASK 1) BOTTOM PART This is the mask I made for X-Mas 2008, I pre-airbrushed the mask with temp
Step one, line up the nose bridge and the top lip areas and glue them down. Step 2 apply glue around the outer edges of the mask (see above glue points pic)
TOP PART WITH EYEBROWS (eyebrows to be added after pre-fitting)
THE RED ARROWS BELOW JUST SHOW WHERE TRIMMING CAN BE DONE TO FIT YOUR FACE IN ABLE TO SEE PROPERLY AND TO GET RID OF ACCESS RUBBER
USING WATER BASED TUBE HALLOWEEN MAKE-UP AND A MAKE-UP SPONGE.. APPLY A GREEN MAKE -UP MIX (using a green and yellow ) or any other colors and use a dark eyebrow pencil to highlight the wrinkles,lines and contours in the mask. I finish it off with a powder and baby powder to "set" the make-up (keeps it from running a bit) and gives a dull sheen. Or if you are good with applying face make-up, make your mixture darker and lighter for added realism .I airbrush on my make -up and I can get some really cool soft effects. THE PICTURE BELOW HAS BE DONE USING A COMPUTER BUT IT GIVES THE VIEWER AN IDEA OF HOW TO APPLY THE MAKE-UP (any color).
WHEN MIXING THE GREEN, USE A MED GREEN AND ADD LOTS OF YELLOW TO MATCH THE
