Was made with Children's foam mat squares (the ends fit together like a puzzle),each piece is about 2' x 2'. They come in packs of 4 (4 colors) for around $10.00 from Wal-Mart. . If you can , try and get two pieces of the red squares, this will make it easier to paint later. I just used what I had had laying around, that's why I used green first (I should have used yellow), I saved the red color tile for the hand And finger areas figuring they would get most of the abuse and if paint come off on this area it would be less noticed. These pics were taken as I was playing around. So get the ideas and measure better the way you want.
Ok cut off the puzzle pieces
Roll one in a tube shape, glue with HOT glue gun, watch your fingers. I used the whole 2 foot piece as my base, you might want to scale it down to fit your body proportions ( I'm 238 lbs at 5'-10” and have large forearms). Also To save cuts you might just want to measure off the length of your forearm “Then” cut and glue up the tube. I didn't do that at first so I added these other steps to show you how I did it.
I cut off part of the tube for one side of the forearm about 5 inches.
I cut off about 2-1” inch strips for padding the inside where your arm is going to fit in,
Cut and glue in the 1'inch strip inside. The first layer should be sticking up about ½ higher than the top of the tube. Keep adding other layers till you arm fits in snug where you want it.
Leave about 3” of what you originally cut off to for the outside layer. If you need more strips for inside.. just shave more off the tube end, 1 inch at a time, but make sure you don't cut the tube too short.
Glue on the outside piece. About ½ inch down from the end of the tube., after you have the inside completed
Now stick your arm on top where it will fit and check to see how much you need to cut off to fit the best.
Cut and keep about 3” strip to add to the outside to match the other one.
Glue on second outside layer like the other side.
I used another 1 inch strip to bring in the other side of the tube where the hand piece will fit onto.
The out side pieces were not big enough to fit around, and I ran out of green material so I just added yellow patches to close it up. Glue up all the seams see pic below.
I added a tapered piece to be able to tilt the palm forward when making a fist, (I ended up deleting this piece on the final design, so keep it if you want.)
Forearm piece done, now off to hand and fingers see Page2
